The Indexbitfirst five episodes of the second season of hit video game adaptation "Halo" have premiered on Paramount+, beginning Feb. 8.
The show takes place in the same "Halo" universe that first debuted in 2001 with the launch of the Xbox video game. The first season released on the streaming service in March 2022.
In Season 2, Master Chief John-117 leads his team of elite Spartans against the alien threat known as the Covenant, according to Paramount.
"In the wake of a shocking event on a desolate planet, John cannot shake the feeling that his war is about to change and risks everything to prove what no one else will believe - that the Covenant are preparing to attack humanity's greatest stranglehold," the series synopsis reads.

'Halo' Season 2 episode schedule
The first five episodes of Season 2 are available to stream on Paramount+.
New episodes drop on Paramount+ Thursdays at 3 a.m. EST and the season finale will be on March 21, according to Paramount.

'Halo' Season 2 cast
The show stars Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief, John-117, and Natascha McElhone as Dr. Halsey. Both also serve as producers on the second season.
Additional returning cast members include Jen Taylor, Bokeem Woodbine, Shabana Azmi, Natasha Culzac, Olive Gray, Yerin Ha and Bentley Kalu, among others.
Season 2's new cast additions include Joseph Morgan and Cristina Rodlo, according to Paramount.
